Building Services Engineering is about the building as a complete package. The building structure on its own is of no use without the heating, lighting, air-conditioning, ventilation, power-distribution, communication networks, lighting and all of the other systems that make it suitable for use. The job of building services technicians and engineers is to design all of these systems into the building at the start of the project so that they become part of the fabric of the building by the time it’s completed. To do this, they need to have mechanical, electrical and construction skills and knowledge.
