Psychiatric Nursing

Psychiatric nursing involves caring for people of all ages and backgrounds. People with a mental illness are cared for in many different places such as hospitals, hostels, day centres, in the community and their own homes. We want to promote positive attitudes to mental health and to help people deal with any mental/emotional challenges they face in life. What is great about this programme is that you will learn in so many different environments such as in the classroom, in a simulated community based apartment and on work placement. A particularly important part of your learning experience will be improving how you relate to people so that you will be able to communicate with people with mental health challenges and form healing relationships with them and their families.
